Saturday, March 11th is Brasserie Dieu du ciel Péché Day!
Enter the darkness for our first Péché Mortel Day here at the Muted Horn.

This year, six varieties of Dieu du Ciel!'s amazing Péché Mortel coffee-infused imperial stout will be available on tap at 40 select beer bars around the world, and we are honoured to be the only place in Germany to take part in this fantastic event.

The Canadian Brasserie Dieu du Ciel! is one of our favourite breweries in the world, and you may have already tried their great beers like Aphrodisiaque, Moralité, or Solstice d’Été at the Muted Horn.

The classic Péché Mortel and its variants consistently appear on RateBeer’s annual list of best beers in the world. This year is no exception, and we're very excited to share some more of these fantastic stouts with you. Every version will be available in both the regular 0,3l pours and in 0,15l tasters (and flights).

We’ll have on tap:

- Péché Mortel Classic Version
Imperial Coffee Stout, 9.5% alc/vol.
A deep, dark and profound stout. Espresso coffee is infused during the brewing of Péché Mortel, resulting in an intense dark beer with roasted malt flavours enhanced by bitter coffee. The dry finish is long and persistent. Intended as a tasting experience, we invite you to enjoy this brew in moderation. This beer was first crafted at our Montreal location in October of 2001.

- Péché Mortel 2016 & 2017 Special Edition
Stout Impérial au café, 9.5% alc/vol.
The 2017 Péché Mortel Special Edition is an Imperial Coffee Stout that was brewed with a different coffee than that of the classic version of this beer. For the 2016 and 2017 editions, we chose the M’Beguka, a Kenyan coffee, in collaboration with Saint-Henri, our micro roaster. Because it is a light roast, this coffee offers blackcurrant, strawberry and rhubarb flavours. This beer was first crafted at our Montreal location in January of 2016.

- Péché Mortel Bourbon 2016
Imperial Coffee Stout aged in Bourbon barrels, 9.5% alc/vol.
Péché Mortel is an intensely black and dense stout in which coffee is infused during the brewing process. The result is a strong beer where prominent roasted flavours coalesce with a powerful taste of coffee. Once fermentation is complete, the beer is aged several months in bourbon oak barrels, which imparts some vanilla and woody aromas as well as bourbon flavours. This beer was first crafted at our Montreal location in May of 2009.

- Peach Mortel 2017
Imperial Coffee and Peach Stout , 9.5% alc/vol.
For the past several years, non-francophone clients of our Montreal brewpub have frequently confused the term “Péché” with “Pêche”, and end up ordering a Peach Mortelle. This confusion gave birth to the idea of brewing a Péché Mortel with real peaches. The fruit’s acidity compliments that of the coffee, infusing the beer with fruity flavours. This beer was first crafted at our Montreal location in January of 2016.

- Péché Véniel 2017
Coffee Stout, 6.5% alc/vol.
If the Péché Mortel had a little sister, she would be called Venial! This version of our classic recipe is lighter in alcohol, for days when a 9.5% Péché Mortel is not part of the game plan. Brewed with a Colombian coffee cultivated by Mr. Ignacio Quintero, the Péché Véniel offers aromas of roasted malt, caramel, and hazelnuts, alongside the coffee aromas of tangerines, amaretto, and milk chocolate. This beer was first crafted at our Montreal location in January of 2016.

- Péché Termopilas
Imperial Coffee Stout with coffee from Las Termopilas, 9.5% alc/vol.
The Termopilas Péché is an Imperial Stout brewed with the coffee of the same name! The light roast softens the roasted flavours to let the nutty flavours shine through. The beer is also slightly more acidic than the classic Péché Mortel. This beer was first crafted in our St-Jérôme brewery in December of 2016.

Free entry – this is not a ticketed event, just come out and enjoy some fantastic beer with us. Save the date!
