Formed by renowned musicians at the Choro music scene in Brazils capital city, Brasília, the group Choro pra Cinco (portuguese for Choro for Five) has become attention for its proposal of fusing tradition and inovation. Always referring to the stablished sonority of the traditional Choro – where the solo has its counterpoint from the guitars duo and the harmony and rithm from the Tambourine and Cavaquinho – the group goes far beyond than just reproducing the classics of the style. In its repertoire Choro pra Cinco has constantly new compositions with new perspectives in which the arrangements simultenously respects and renews the genre.

It is only possible thanks to the diverse formation of its members, where academic musicians coexist with highly experienced instrumentalists who play with important names of the brazilian music. The group released its first album Caminho dos Ventos (portuguese for Way of the Wind), which portrays the old and new generations of the Choro scene of Brazil’s capital which started in the 60’s and keeps flourishing since then.

Choro pra Cinco members are Thanise Silva on the flute, Vinícius Magalhães on the 7 string and George Costa on the 6 string guitar, Pedro Silva on the cavaquinho and Gabriel Carneiro on the tambourine.
